The Truck That Hauled the Dream
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we’re leaning into something that often gets pushed aside: appreciation.
Not just the polite kind. Not the “thanks” you mutter after someone holds a door. We’re talking about that full-hearted, can’t-stop-smiling kind of appreciation. The kind you feel when something new hits your life and everything feels a little more exciting. That proud, this-is-mine moment.
Remember your first new car? That adrenaline rush when you hit the gas. The smell, the shine, the compliments. That feeling doesn’t have to fade over time. You can choose to keep it alive.
I once told my daughter that if I could have one superpower, it would be to always appreciate what I already have the way I did the day I got it. That kind of gratitude is the real deal. Tangible. Daily. Honest. And, as it turns out, it’s also the story of a truck.
Meet Arminius — Our First Workhorse and Forever Legend
Before High Caliber had guests, tracks, bars, or axes to throw, we had a truck.
Arminius, our 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, was the very first asset High Caliber ever owned. Back then, he wasn’t just a truck. He was a mission. A muscle-bound diesel beast with 300 horsepower and a stubborn streak that matched ours.
He hauled our earliest equipment, our wildest ideas, and occasionally, our half-broken selves. When we were building the very first track, Arminius was right there, dragging a pink Barbie Jeep bolted to a sheet of plywood across a field for testing. It was dumb. It was unsafe. It was perfect.
He pulled 38-foot gooseneck trailers full of go-karts and gear across the country, parked like a monster at parades, and hauled everything we needed to make chaos happen. He even launched himself off dunes, squeezed under parking decks, and made a hobby of waking up entire neighborhoods.
And the scars? Yeah, he’s got some. Deer strike at 70 miles per hour. Bridge barrier to the bumper. Almost 300,000 miles and still hauling. Still loud. Still showing up.
Why It Matters
This month, Arminius turns 20. That officially makes him an antique in the U.S. But don’t tell him that. He’ll probably try to out-tow your brand-new F-250 just to make a point.
For us, this isn’t just about a truck getting older. It’s a reminder that the things we build — the memories, the mayhem, the community — started somewhere real. Somewhere simple.
At High Caliber, we’re in the business of creating joy. The kind of joy that sticks around. Whether it’s a night of ridiculous fun, a rage room scream session, or a karting win you’ll talk about for months, we build experiences that live longer than the moment.
And this beat-up, battle-worn diesel? He’s been here since day one. Carrying the weight. Carrying the vision. Carrying us.
Happy Birthday, Arminius!
You’ve been with us through it all. The breakdowns. The breakthroughs. The big wins and the moments no one saw coming. You’re not just a truck. You’re the heartbeat of our hustle.
You earned your cake, your candles, and your place in the family. Here’s to you, Arminius. Antique or not, you’ll always be our first real one.
